I don’t mean thrift stores, I mean stores that cater to a certain time period, and sell these clothing items exclusively. You may find complete wardrobes from almost any fashion era on display, and the prices will vary. You may even find pieces at are over a century old if you look hard enough.

Vintage clothing often evokes a sense of nostalgia. Some people won’t wear their purchases. They simply take them home and hang them in the closet. An outfit or a certain style of clothing may remind them of when they met their spouse, the carefree days of their youth, or a special occasion they shared with their family. You may also find baby clothes that remind you of what your children once wore, or something that matches the style of when you were a baby.

Stores that sell vintage clothing are also popping up on the Internet. Places like eBay have a great selection, and some sellers are specializing in vintage clothing, shoes, and accessories. Not only will you find dresses, outfits, and jeans, you can find tshirts as well. Tshirts are often big sellers. These can be concert tshirts, or tshirts that reflected the mood and style of that era. If you look in your closet, you probably have a few these stashed away yourself.

When it comes time for a special costume, a vintage clothing store may be just what you need. You can find period pieces to concoct the perfect costume. You may be a flapper from the twenties, or a find a great poodle skirt for the fifties look. No matter what you are looking for, you can probably find it online or in a local store. You may even be able to find different pieces to put together for a unique look that no one else has.

After you have found some vintage clothing you love, purchased it, and taken it home, don’t forget to take extra care to keep it all in good condition. You can ask the seller or storeowner for special tips on keeping everything in good shape. They may even have special instructions for the particular outfit or piece of clothing you are buying. For best results, air-drying is always a good idea. This produces far less wear and tear on your clothing than a clothes dryer.
